The Weaver's Process

200.00

Wednesdays 6pm-10pm, 4 sessions, April, May or June

Instructor: Levon Kafafian

This is where it all begins. We’ll shed light on the mysteries of the loom–mechanically and metaphorically–and explore the possibilities of design in this age-old craft.

Students will be introduced to basic weave structures on 4 shaft tabletop looms and gain insight into how to select and use yarns for best effect.

On day one, students will create reference samples while exploring various plain weave and twill structures. The second session will focus on design: ideation, drafting, calculation, preparation and the dressing of the loom. Students will have the next two sessions to weave and finish a work of their choice utilizing what they have learned along the way.

Most materials provided, includes coffee/tea and a vegetarian home-cooked meal.
